Laura Montross...
Laura has a passion for training and teaching and is a positive role model for riders of all ages. Laura owned and showed several horses
as a youth before attending Midway College where she earned a BA Degree in Equine
Management. with a concentration in Equitation Instruction.
During this time she served as Captain of the IHSA Riding Team where she
received many High Point Rider awards in Equitation, Horsemanship, Reining, and Equitation Over Fences. Laura was in the Top 3 at the IHSA Nationals and qualified all 4 years, as well as the "Tournament of Champions" in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Laura also served as the President of the Midway Horsewomen's Association and was the First student to qualify all 4 years on the Equine Judging Team where she won several awards as well. While in Kentucky, Laura became a Certified Vet Technician at
Haygard-Davidson-McGee Equine Hospital and worked for Three Chimney's Farm on their Broodmare Division.
In the years to follow she continued training horses with other World Class Trainers, then set out on her own to train, teach and show in North Carolina. As destiny would have it John and Laura crossed paths at a Horse Show and in 2000 she teamed up with John and now they enjoy
doing what they love together.
Laura has served on the North Carolina Quarter Horse Association Board of Directors for 5 years where she served on the Futurity, Show, and Youth Committees.
She was the 2005 & 2006 Youth Advisor for NCQHYA. Both years the North Carolina Youth Team won their Division at the AQHYA World Show in Fort Worth, TX and were in the Top 5 at the Quarter Horse Congress out of more than 100 teams in Columbus Ohio. Laura has also Coached and Judged riders on IHSA Riding Teams from several Colleges including NC State, UNC, Elon, Virginia Tech, Tenn. Tech, and Cal Poly.
Laura is dedicated to the classical training of horse and rider so that he/ she may succeed in any discipline in the Equine Industry.
